Marble Floor Mosaic in Rotunda

This Web Site was developed by members of the Capitol Group, part of the Department of Administrative Services State Building Division. The State Building Division, established in 1974 by an act of the Legislature, is charged with oversight of all building maintenance, leasing and capital improvements for the State of Nebraska. Building Division has responsibility for the daily operation, preservation and restoration of the State Capitol and Governor's Mansion. In 1976 Building Division managed the construction of the Nebraska State Office Building one block north of the Capitol; and in 1988, managed the construction of a new facility northwest of the Capitol to house the State's Information Management Services. These two facilities relieved overcrowding in the Capitol and vacated space which was then renovated or restored. In 2004, by an act of the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature, management and preservation of the Capitol was transferred to the newly created Office of the Capitol Commission. For information about the Office of the Capitol Commission and its mission please call (402)471-6691. For more information about the Nebraska State Capitol please contact the Capitol Tour Office at (402)471-0448.
